He replaces Andrew Sparke, who will move to the role of managing director of the company. “I feel very privileged to take on this role at such an exciting time for QMines. QMines' flagship Mount Chalmers project is centred on a former mine site near Rockhampton. It has a measured, indicated and inferred resource of 11.86Mt at 1.22 per cent copper equivalent for 144,700t copper equivalent. Core drilling continues at the Briggs copper project in Central Queensland, testing large-scale targets immediately along strike from the Briggs Central deposit. Canterbury Resources said the first hole had intersected 441m at 0.21 per cent copper, including higher grade zones (greater than 0.3 per cent copper) over encouraging intervals. The company said the results confirmed the mineralised porphyry system at Briggs was substantially larger than previously interpreted and remained open in all directions. Pacgold reports positive results from an IP geophysics survey and an initial shallow diamond drilling program on the Southern Target gold system at Alice River in Far North Queensland. “We are thrilled by the success of the latest IP geophysics survey in extending the IP resistivity low that is directly associated with the large-scale Southern Target gold system a further 2km to the southeast, doubling the potential strike of the system," Pacgold managing director Tony Schreck said. "In a regional sense, the large southern strike extent of the IP resistivity low corridor, now extending more than 3.8km, represents one of the most compelling and underexplored targets on the Alice River gold project.” Mineral processing specialist Sedgman is joining forces with enviroMETS Qld to work on repurposing, re-commercialising and remediating mining-impacted land. enviroMETS Qld is an industry-led, not-for-profit company established to find innovative and sustainable new ways to make mining impacted land more valuable to its current, and future custodians. “enviroMETS Qld is delighted that Sedgman is endorsing our mission with their partnering support," executive director Allan Morton said. "Having a respected Queensland-based and leading global industry solutions provider as part of our team enables us to take on a challenging problem with post mining land use with confidence.” Civmec has been awarded an “umbrella” services agreement to provide construction services for the delivery of sustaining capital projects for Rio Tinto facilities across multiple sites. This is a three-year contract with options for extension and allows Civmec to provide structural, mechanical, piping, earthworks, civil, non-processing infrastructure and any other ancillary works across the Yarwun refinery, Boyne Island smelter and Weipa sites on the east coast of Australia. Ampcontrol has announced a rebranding of its member companies. The businesses - wholly owned and operated by Ampcontrol - include Austech, Burn Brite, Captech, CPS National and Verico. From February 1, they will be rebranded to Ampcontrol including name, logo, and website. Global blasting player Enaex has purchased 100 per cent of Australian blasting accessories company MTi Group and 45 per cent of Portuguese blasting software company O-Pitblast, in a move it says will add important complementary services to its Australian offering. These latest acquisitions come off the back of similar moves in 2021, which saw Enaex Australia formally enter the market through the acquisition and consolidation of the established Downer Blasting Services and Davey Bickford Australia businesses.
