North-west Queensland copper producer Austral Resources Australia is continuing work to restructure its finances, extending its share trading halt until October 20. The company said it was undertaking ongoing negotiations to set in place the most effective structure and position. "The company has advanced these negotiations, however not to an extent that would warrant disclosure to the market and removing it from voluntary suspension," it said in a statemenet to the market. "Austral intends to remain in voluntary suspension as the commencement of trading in its securities is likely to be materially prejudicial to its ability to complete the multiple negotiations and is critical to its continued financial viability." Genex Power's Bouldercombe battery project at Rockhampton has been reconnected to the network after a fire this week. The project was shut down for almost 48 hours after a fire in one of 40 lithium Megapack 2.0 units supplied by Tesla. The company said the fire burnt itself out and damage was contained to a single battery. It said auxiliary power had returned to the site last night (Thursday), and a controlled charge was performed into the Tesla Megapack modules. "Full operations will not resume until a root cause analysis is complete," a company spokeswoman said. The battery had been operating at or near full capacity in the days leading up to the fire as Genex worked through the final phases of its commissioning process, which is expected to be complete by late October. Resources Safety and Health Queensland inspectors are investigating an incident at the BMA Blackwater mine where a dragline bucket slipped and went onto a dozer. BMA said the dozer operator had stopped positioning a spare dragline bucket after it unexpectedly moved up the blade. "No one was injured. After reporting and surveying the area the bucket was safely lifted off and the dozer was able to drive away under its own power," a BMA spokeswoman said. RSHQ said the mine has suspended the use of dozers for the specific maintenance task involved and was using alternative measures. Squadron Energy has shared an image of the first turbine going up at the $3 billion Clarke Creek development. Clarke Creek Wind Farm Stage 1 consists of 100 turbines with a total capacity of 450MW. The project is located 150km north-west of Rockhampton and 150km south of Mackay. The Queensland Government is bolstering support for women in manufacturing through the launch of the Women in Manufacturing Apprentice Awards, announced during Manufacturing Month. Nominations are now open for the Women in Manufacturing ‘Leading Apprentice Award’ and runner up – the ‘Highly Commended Apprentice Award’ for 2024. (Nominate HERE). Recipients will be announced at the annual International Women’s Day Women in Manufacturing Breakfast next year. Clara Resources says its scoping study for the Ashford coal project in New South Wales is progressing to plan, with recent coking coal price rises highlighting its potential to deliver strong economic returns. “As we come close to finalising the various workflows of our scoping study, we are also increasingly positive around the opportunity for this project to deliver strong economic returns to shareholders," Clara Resources chief executive officer Peter Westerhuis said. "Project logistics positives such as the Inland Rail Project coupled with a very strong coal price bodes well for Ashford and we look forward to summarising the study outcomes in the near term.”
