Townsville battery materials plant proponent Queensland Pacific Metals has entered into a binding ore supply agreement with New Caledonia’s Société Le Nickel.

It comes after the Government of New Caledonia had approved an increase in the annual nickel ore export quota of SLN.

This increase includes the supply of up to 1,000,000 wet metric tonnes of nickel ore per annum to QPM’s TECH project.

Cloncurry gold project developer Tombola Gold has raised almost $3 million in a placement.

The company said the funds would fund the ongoing development of the Mount Freda complex, further expanding gold mining at the projects, in addition to providing funding for exploration and working capital.

“The capital raised will be used to continue the advancement of Tombola moving from an explorer to a meaningful gold miner in Cloncurry, Queensland, as we fast track towards first cash flow in 2022. We’ll also be using the capital for further exploration with an initial focus on the Shamrock tenement to increase tonnage and grade,” Tombola managing director Byron Miles said.

Geologist Damien Keys, the managing director of Sunshine Gold, is due to address the next AIG-ALS Technical Meeting Series event in Townsville this week.

The event will be held Friday (March 4), 5.30 pm – 7.15 pm at Rydges Southbank.

Alpha HPA’s demonstration plant facility located in Brisbane has been impacted by the current flood event in south-east Queensland, pausing production of marketing samples.

The company said it would will assess the impact over the coming days. Construction of the Stage 1 Precursor Production Facility in Gladstone continues.

Townsville-based contractor Peak ARE (Airconditioning, Refrigeration and Electrical) is the successful mechanical services tenderer for the Breakwater Hotel Development under construction in Townsville.

Director Brad Swaffer said the Peak ARE team would deliver a fully reticulated chilled water air conditioning system as part of the luxury, seven-storey hotel project, demonstrating its continuing growth in both capacity and reputation.

Cooper Metals has released the preliminary results of the fixed loop electromagnetic survey (FLEM) at the Python and King Solomon copper-gold prospects within its Mount Isa East project.

“I am highly encouraged that our first high-powered fixed loop electromagnetic survey at Mt Isa East has identified conductors at both the Python and King Solomon Cu-Au prospects,” Cooper Metals managing director Ian Warland said.

“The Python conductor is especially exciting with the modelled conductor extending for over 400m and coincident with a significant regional fault.”

Tthe 923MW MacIntyre wind farm near Warwick in south-west Queensland has rhe final green light for development to get underway in the second quarter of 2022, according to Acciona Energía.

The project will be 70 per cent owned by Acciona, with a 30 per cent share held by Korea Zinc subsidiary Ark Energy.
