Australia Pacific LNG is set to supply more than 2 PJ of additional gas to the domestic market through agreements with Energy Australia and Alinta Energy.

Chief executive officer Khoa Dao said the sales contracts were consistent with Australia Pacific LNG’s commitment to supply the domestic market under the Heads of Agreement and at terms that reflected the recently legislated price cap.

“In addition to these latest gas sales, APLNG provides approximately 130 PJ of gas into the domestic market during 2023 under medium and long-term gas supply agreements that clearly demonstrate our long-standing commitment to the domestic market,” he said.

Heritage Minerals has called for expressions of interest for a work package covering earthworks equipment wet hire. 

The company has attracted $66 million in North Australia Infrastructure Fund (NAIF) backing to mine tailings and rehabilitate the historical Mount Morgan mine site.

Heritage Minerals is seeking equipment including two D8 dozers, a medium grader, water truck, roller, front-end loader (CAT 980 Size), two 30-tonne ts and two 30-tonne excavator, a smooth drum roller and multiwheel compactor (CAT 825 size).

Diamantina Power Station operator APA Group is continuing to investigate the cause of an outage affecting thousands of customers in and around Mount Isa and Cloncurry on Tuesday.

More than 10,000 customers lost power at around 4am. Ergon said that by around 7.40am, power had been restored to more than 8700 customers in and around Mount Isa. At midday power was restored to more than 1000 customers in Cloncurry and all were back on before 1pm.

Centrex says production is continuing at its Ardmore site despite significant rainfall, with the concentrate production for the March quarter (unsurveyed) standing at 24,806 mt so far.

“The company’s production schedule allows for average seasonal rainfall for this time of year,” Centrex said in a statement to the market.

“It notes that year to date, Dajarra rainfall (located 23km east of Ardmore) is 458mm, approximately 2.6 times the long-term average.”

Renegade Exploration has completed a reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign comprising about 2000m over 23 holes at the Mongoose copper-gold project near Cloncurry.

Renegade director Robert Kirtlan said the program had hit multiple large zones of visible copper mineralisation.

“One such zone is located underneath the appropriately named ‘Malachite Hill’ which has not been tested by prior drilling and has a potential strike of over 200m,” he said.

“We eagerly await the assay results which should be available for release over the next two to three weeks.”

Mongoose is part of the Carpentaria Joint Venture (CJV) between Glencore and Renegade, whose stake stands at 23.03 per cent. In January, Renegade reached agreement to excise the project (EPM8588) and sole risk future expenditure.

Powerlink has engaged 20 local suppliers, with contracts valued at more than $18 million, for work on the $295 million Genex Kidston Connection Project.

The project is delivering 186km of transmission line and two new substations at Mount Fox and Kidston.

Local supplier Ingham Concrete – Icon is among those to benefit, running a concrete batch plant for the construction of the Guybal Munjan Substation at Mount Fox.

It will be mixing about 1,200 cubic metres of concrete, negating the need for multiple heavy vehicles to drive Mount Fox Range to deliver concrete to the substation site.

“Powerlink has been very proactive with its principal contractor UGL to ensure local suppliers can be engaged on the project,” Powerlink chief executive Paul Simshauser said.

“There’s a wealth of skill and experience in regional areas like Ingham, and it’s very important that we provide opportunities to work on significant projects like the Genex Kidston Connection Project.”
