News updates on TerraCom, Greenvale Mining, Rookwood Weir construction, and more … The $367.2 million Rookwood Weir construction project in Central Queensland has passed two significant milestones that highlight the flow-on benefits to the community, according to Rockhampton MP Barry O’Rourke. “More than one million hours have been worked on the weir and completed supporting projects, such as the Riverslea Bridge construction, and Thirsty Creek Road and Capricorn Highway upgrades,” he said. “Additionally, $100 million from the project has now been spent with suppliers and contractors in Central Queensland, delivering a significant boost to economic growth in the region." More than 350 people are currently working on-site to build the weir that will capture water from the Fitzroy River for irrigation, industrial and urban use. Blair Athol coal mine operator TerraCom has announced a final dividend of 10 cents per share for the financial year ended June 30. The company also advised that it had updated its dividend policy to endeavour to return 60 to 90 per cent of net profit after tax to shareholders, paid on a quarterly basis. “On behalf of the board and management, I am extremely pleased with the ongoing consistent performance of the company which has enabled this dividend to be declared and an update to our distribution policy," non-executive chairman Graeme Campbell said. "We have a strong forward outlook on the coal market and look forward to providing income and capital to our shareholders on a regular basis.” Chase Mining Corporation has been granted the first three exploration licences that comprise the Barkly Northrare earths and uranium project in the Northern Territory. These licences cover the eastern half of the 160km long rare earths trend revealed by the Geoscience Australia-conducted North Australian Geochemical Survey. It holds accompanying high values in supporting elements, notably niobium, chrome and uranium. Tablelands Regional Council is running a series of free workshops to help make people make their businesses more inclusive. Greenvale Mining has announced changes to its senior management team as it pursues the next phase of its transition to becoming a producer of carbon-offset bitumen and a geothermal renewable energy supplier in Queensland. Neil Biddle will be stepping down from the role of managing director, having overseen the company’s initial growth and development including identifying the potential of the Alpha project and associated geothermal strategy. He will remain on the board as a non-executive director and also remains a substantial shareholder. Executive director Mark Turner will assume the role of chief executive officer. He will be reportingdirectly to chairman Tony Leibowitz, who will be actively involved in assisting Mr Turner with the planning and successful execution of this critical development phase. Current CEO Matt Healy will assume the role as general manager of Greenvale’s subsidiary Knox Resources, pending finalisation of this company’s sale to Astro Resources, at which time he will take up the position of CEO of Astro. Alan Boys will retire as chief finance officer and company secretary, with chartered accountant Kurt Laney to assume his role. The changes follow recent milestones achieved with Greenvale's Alpha torbanite project and a broader corporate restructuring with the planned divestment of the Georgina IOCG project to Astro Resources
