HEH Civil general manager Luke Bird is taking over the role of chair from long-serving Advance Cairns leader Nick Trompf.
Mr Bird (pictured below) runs one of the Far North’s leading civil construction firms and is a director on the Civil Contractors Federation of Queensland.

Mr Bird said he was looking forward to assuming the extra responsibility at Advance Cairns, after joining the board last October.
“We’ve been long-term supporters of the advocacy work that Advance Cairns leads on behalf of the region and I’m looking forward to playing a more direct role in that,” Mr Bird said.
“Catalytic infrastructure plays such a vital role in enhancing the lives of those who live and work in the Far North and as the most populated region in northern Australia, there are ever-increasing demands which need to be met.”
ASIC has disqualified former Queensland Senator Claire Mary Moore from managing corporations for four years.
The move arises from her role as a director of failed companies Warwick Gold Holdings and Impact Gold, which entered liquidation in 2024 with substantial shortfalls.
The companies issued shares to raise funds for purported gold and precious metal mining operations in Papua New Guinea (Impact Gold) and Queensland (Warwick Gold).
When the companies entered liquidation, $44 million had been raised from around 400 shareholders, ASIC said.
The corporate watchdog said Ms Moore failed to meet her obligations as a director because her management of the companies fell well below the standard expected of Australian directors.
In relation to the same companies:
- In July 2025, ASIC commenced proceedings in the Federal Court to disqualify David Catsoulis, an officer of Impact Gold and Warwick Gold, from managing corporations. The final hearing for this matter has been listed to commence on April 29, 2026.
- In December 2025, ASIC commenced proceedings in the Federal Court to restrain Colin Oxlade and Spice Capital Partners from providing unlicensed financial services.
