Centrex expects to set a new company record with an upcoming beneficiated phosphate shipment, originally scheduled at about 25,000t and now upsized to 30,000t. The Ardmore mine owner said the shipment, scheduled for loading from December 1, would be sent to an existing customer, reflecting the continued strong demand for the operation's high-quality beneficiated phosphate among repeat buyers. Centrex chief executive officer and managing director Robert Mencel said the company's stockpiling and production ramp-up strategy had enabled larger, more efficient shipments, which in turn were expected to support improvements in operating margins. "This strategy has also allowed us to better meet our customers' increasing demand for large, reliable and high-quality sources of phosphate concentrate," he said. "The team and I look forward to building on this momentum and the improvements made at Ardmore to date.” Roger, Derek and Nilu Berg with the new machinery at Berg Engineering's Brisbane facility. Queensland mechanical engineering firm Berg Engineering has added to its machining capacity for heavy industry with the commissioning of an Okuma MCR-A5CII 25×40 double column five-face machining centre at its Brisbane facility. Berg said the Okuma would provide companies operating in the rail, mining, coal, energy and power generation, defence, ports and water infrastructure sectors with highly efficient and precise component and part manufacture, remanufacturing and refurbishments to support the optimisation of their assets. “This new machine is enhancing our manufacturing capabilities, allowing us to take on more complex projects and improve lead times and cost efficiencies for our clients," Berg chief executive officer Derek Berg said. “It also marks a major step forward in our commitment to supporting the local economy by directly contributing to job creation within the Moreton Bay region and further strengthening the role of advanced manufacturing in our community.” A diamond drill rig has arrived on site at the Mount Cannindah copper-gold project in Central Queensland to begin a large-scale drilling program. Cannindah Resources (ASX: CAE) said its geologists had been working on the drill location planning for some time with the aim of extending the size of the known resource area into the southern breccia anomaly and testing a large IP anomaly about 700m south-west of the Mount Cannindah resource. “The delivery of the diamond drill rig to site marks the beginning of the next phase of drilling at the Mount Cannindah project," managing director Tom Pickett said. "The extension of the resource by testing the extension into the southern breccia zone, and the significant SW IP anomaly is the current focus of the company. CAE looks forward to the possibility of generating some more excellent outcomes from this high-quality copper-gold project in the very near future.” Mitchell Services delivers the rig to the Mount Cannindah site.
