Lion Energy has entered an agreement with Samsung C&T Corporation and Mitsubishi subsidiary DGA Energy Solutions Australia to jointly develop its green hydrogen hub at Port of Brisbane. The proposed project consists of a green hydrogen production and dispensing infrastructure at Port of Brisbane, with total production capacity in excess of 300 tonnes per annum. Under the signed agreement, DGA and Samsung C&T will initially pay a total of $3.7 million to Lion for historical and ongoing pre-construction costs in return for a 25 per cent stake in the project. Upon the parties agreeing to start construction, DGA and Samsung will procure debt financing for $6.3 million. Lion Energy said the Port of Brisbane project was likely to create a blueprint for other green hydrogen hub/spoke supply facilities across eastern Australia. An ongoing soil sampling campaign at Hammer Metals' Mount Isa project has identified several new high-quality copper-gold targets. They include a high-priority anomaly identified at the Tourist Zone, with peak soil results of 0.49g/t gold and 0.74 per cent copper. At Kalman, the company said geological reconnaissance of gold mineralisation intersected previously at the Kalman North EM target had identified a prospective target with a surface rock chip sample of 7.0g/t gold. “Hammer has been systematically identifying untested trends and anomalies within our extensive tenement position for further investigation by soil sampling and geological reconnaissance," managing director Daniel Thomas said. "The exciting results emerging from Hammer’s initial work at Kalman and Tourist Zone are very pleasing and highlight the untapped potential of this project for further discoveries.” Alice River gold project proponent Pacgold has appointed Matthew Boyes to the position of managing director/chief executive officer commencing September 1. Mr Boyes is an experienced geologist and managing director with more than 25 years’ international experience. Pacgold chair Cathy Moises said; "the Pacgold board are excited to welcome Mr Boyes to our team. The existing MD/CEO, Mr Tony Schreck has worked tirelessly to not only unlock the geological potential of the Alice River project, but also develop a first-class supportive investor base led by some of the most prestigious resource investment houses in the country." Dalrymple Bay Terminal near Mackay shipped 29.9Mt of coal in the first half of this year, almost on par with the first six months of 2023 (29.8Mt). Terminal owner Dalrymple Bay Infrastructure reported that 81 per cent of its revenue for the six-month period was derived from mines that ship predominantly metallurgical coal. Key export destinations during H1-24 were Japan, South Korea, India, Taiwan and China - accounting for about 71 per cent of exports between them. Exports to India were 30 per cent higher than in the same period last year.
