Quick fire – industry events update

The JKMRC Friday Seminar this week features University of Queensland geomicrobiologist Sam (Samadhi) Gunathunga (pictured), who investigates how microbial-mineral interactions can be harnessed to develop sustainable solutions for the mining industry.
By combining microbial ecology, molecular characterisation and geochemistry, she explores how microbial processes can be applied to support critical metal recovery, AMD remediation and mineral carbonation.
Her work aims to bridge microbiology and geoscience to contribute to the transition towards more sustainable and circular mining practices.
The seminar will be presented in person at UQ’s Indooroopilly Mine Site Lecture Theatre, 40 Isles Rd, Indooroopilly, and via webinar on July 31 from 9am to 10am.
