Quick fire – industry events update

AusIMM’s International Women’s Day (IWD) Event Series, featuring seven lunches across the nation, will kick off in Queensland on February 26.

AusIMM International Women’s Day Event Series Ambassadors Kara Gear, Kerry Turnock, Ivy Lee, Michelle Radley, Kate Bills, Gabrielle Mudge, and Helen Gibson.

The peak professional group has appointed seven ambassadors for the 2026 series. Their brief is to inspire others through sharing their leadership journeys, their perspectives on diversity, equity and inclusion, and their motivation to keep driving positive change across the industry.

They include:

  • Kara Gear, Whitehaven general manager of learning and development
  • Kerry Turnock, BHP head of geoscience excellence
  • Ivy Lee, Weir director supply chain APAC
  • Michelle Radley, Rio Tinto general manager Ports Dampier
  • Kate Bills, Sandvik general manager – sustainability, marketing, and communications
  • Gabrielle Mudge, Accenture ANZ resources practice managing director
  • Helen Gibson, Komatsu vice president Australasia (underground soft rock)

Happening in February …

Resource Operators Conference – Brisbane, February 5 and 6

ROC2026, the Resource Operators Conference will be hosted in 2026 by the Sustainable and Geomechanics Mining Group at the University of Southern Queensland, Springfield Campus, Brisbane. The face-to-face event will be held on February 5-6, 2026.

This two-day event will address critical issues relating to modern mining operations – both surface and underground – and provide a unique platform for industry experts to share their latest research, innovations, and insights.
