Growth and opportunities in North Queensland’s defence and biofuels industries are the focus of the final Townsville Industry Breakfast event for 2025.
Speakers include Australian Army Commander 3rd Brigade (Armoured/Amphibious) Brigadier Ben McLennan, Port of Townsville general manager customer operations and safety Drew Penny, and Powerlink project director for CopperString Tom Dockray.
The presentations will be followed by a panel session to provide insight into the biofuels sector. Panelists are set to include Jet Zero Australia chief executive officer Ed Mason, Midway pongamia farms project lead Mick Theobald, Queensland Cane Agriculture and Renewables Herbert district manager Lawrence Di Bella and Qantas sustainable aviation fuel executive manager Matt Hudson.

Run by the Coal Mining Safety and Health Advisory Committee. This forum is aimed at ventilation officers, mine managers, underground SSEs, emergency response co-ordinators, underground site safety and health representatives, longwall workers.
Topics for discussion include:

– managing oxygen in the goaf
