North Queensland biofuel company Jet Zero Australia is set to feature at Burdekin Shire Council's next industry breakfast, due to take place on Wednesday, November 27. Jet Zero is aiming to develop Australia’s first Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Alcohol to Jet Fuel (ATJ) biorefining facility in Townsville. The project is called ‘Project Ulysses’ and will take surplus bioethanol produced from agricultural by-products and convert it into low-carbon SAF for planes and renewable diesel for cars, trucks and boats. “We are proud to host Jet Zero Australia as they showcase Project Ulysses, which has the potential to transform our region’s economy and create new opportunities,” Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort said. “I encourage everyone to attend, network and be inspired by the opportunities ahead." The industry breakfast will also hear council chief executive officer Matthew Magin share his vision, discussing strategic priorities that aim to bolster economic development and community enrichment. Isaac Regional Council and AgForce are welcoming the arrival of the Queensland Community Renewables Forum (QCRF) in Nebo this month. Building on the success of the inaugural QCRF held in the Western Downs in July, this second forum will take place at the Nebo Memorial Hall in the Isaac Region on Thursday, 28 November. This free event invites the Isaac community, renewable energy developers, and key stakeholders from agriculture and government to come together. Isaac Mayor Kelly Vea Vea said the renewable energy industry was a key part of the region's diverse economy. “We are dedicated to playing our part in Queensland’s renewable future, and we want to ensure that our communities have a voice in shaping that future," she said. “In our region, alone, we have 26 projects that are currently at various stages of approval. Isaac is positioned to thrive in the renewables boom. For us, it’s essential that our communities define what this future looks like and the legacy it will leave for generations to come." Presentations will run from 9.30am to 3pm and an expo from 8am to 5pm.
