QMines hits Mount Mackenzie with maiden drill program

QMines has mobilised two drilling rigs to the Mount Mackenzie gold-silver project in Central Queensland for a maiden campaign of 36 holes for about 5000m.

The company said the first hole had been drilled in the program, which was designed to test strike and depth extensions of high-grade gold zones as well as several untested gold-in-soil anomalies.

“In my opinion, Mount Mackenzie represents one of the most exciting high-grade gold and silver drilling programs I have seen in a very long time,” QMines executive chairman Andrew Sparke said.

“The deposit has grade, it has width and remains open down plunge and along strike.

“Historical drilling has already delivered outstanding results such as 8m at 69.4g/t gold, 20m at 7.46g/t gold, 12m at 14.9g/t gold and 100m at 2.86g/t gold.

“With two rigs mobilising to site, we are commencing another large drilling program designed to unlock this deposit’s true potential. This is exactly the kind of program that can deliver real excitement for the market and our shareholders.”

The company acquired the Mount Mackenzie project, about 140km north-west of Rockhampton, in early July.

It has a mineral resource estimate comprising 3.3 Mt at 1.4g/t gold and 8.4g/t silver for 151,000oz gold and 902,000oz silver.

The company has just completed an 8600m drilling campaign at its Develin Creek copper-zinc project. This included 8030m of reverse circulation (RC) and 584.9m of HQ3 diamond drilling completed.

The primary objective was to expand and upgrade the volcanic-hosted massive sulphide resource at the Sulphide City deposit.
