Samples yield high-grade results at Mount Isa North

NickelSearch reports 'exceptional' copper, silver and gold grades in samples collected from a due diligence site visit as part of its acquisition of the Mount Isa North project. The deal takes in tenements held by Capella Metals and Bacchus Resources covering more than 2000sq km of ground along strike of Glencore’s Mount Isa mining and processing complex. NickelSearch said today it was beginning reconnaissance exploration at the project, with geologists on site preparing for a maiden drilling campaign. Rock chip and grab samples collected and assayed during due diligence returned results including: 24.8 per cent copper and 1.23g/t gold (CSR002); 11.3 per cent copper and 0.21g/t gold (CSR001) at Surprise prospect 30.0 per cent copper and 64.7g/t silver (CCR001B); 3.12 per cent copper and 6g/t silver (CCR001A) at Moonside – a newly identified, undrilled prospect Related: NickelSearch in major move on Mount Isa ground Rock Chips CSR001 (11.3 per cent copper and 0.21g/t gold) and CSR002 (24.8 per cent copper and 1.23g/t gold). “We have been hard at work finalising the acquisition of Mount Isa North, alongside collating all the data and identifying the highest priority targets to commence drilling," NickelSearch executive chair Mark Connelly said. "These new rock chips highlight the prospectivity of the whole tenement package, with the identification of a completely new target. "Our exploration manager is on-site in Queensland this week, meeting with all the regional stakeholders and undertaking additional sampling and mapping in anticipation of a maiden NIS drill campaign at the highly prospective Surprise mine prospect, where we hope to confirm and extend the historical drilling. "NIS looks forward to hitting the ground running following completion of the Mount Isa North acquisition in mid-October.” The Mount Isa North project hosts multiple high-grade, historical copper mines and prospects including: Surprise mine, where 1970s drilling returned 23.77m at 4.67 per cent copper from 51m (including 12.80m at 7.77 per cent copper) and 3.66m at 9.53 per cent copper from 22m Julius prospect, an undrilled high-grade copper-gold structure with rock chips grading up to 39.5 per cent copper and 1.62g/t gold Gunpowder Creek prospect, an undrilled high-grade copper gold structure with rock chips grading up to 7.32 per cent copper and 0.65g/t gold NickelSearch is targeting a 1500m reverse circulation (RC) drilling campaign at Surprise in Q4-CY24, with discussions underway with drill contractors and confirmation of appropriate stakeholder clearances.
