New stacker in action at Dalrymple Bay
Dalrymple Bay Infrastructure has commissioned a new stacker, ST1A, at the Dalrymple Bay coal terminal near Mackay.
The group said the new machine successfully stacked its first train on April 30, and since then more than 40 trains had been stacked.
ST1A was designed and built by TAKRAF Group and erected by Walz Group
It replaces Stacker ST1, commissioned in 1983, and has been handed over to the operator – Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal Pty Ltd -for ongoing operation..
“All equipment at the terminal undergoes maintenance assessments on a regular basis and during an assessment in 2017 it was determined that ST1 was reaching the end of its service life,” the group said.
“The Dalrymple Bay Infrastructure team conducted a study into the refurbishment and replacement options available for ST1.
“It was established through the evaluation of the study outcomes that replacing ST1 with a new Stacker, ST1A, would achieve a number of objectives including the least operational impact, risk and cost.”
