Mount Isa line reopens after derailment disruption
The Mount Isa line has fully reopened between Oonoomurra and Cloncurry following the derailment of a freight train last week.
Queensland Rail head of regional Jim Benstead said a crew of 25 people onsite, supported by many others, had worked as safely and quickly as possible to get the line back up and running in less than five days.
“Queensland Rail thanks customers, freight partners, and the community for their ongoing patience and assistance as crews worked tirelessly to restore these services.”
The impacted section of line east of Cloncurry was closed after an empty train hit the rear of a stationary train loaded with zinc concentrate at at Oonoomurra yard early on August 17.
