The Minerals Council of Australia has launched a careers guide designed to connect students with opportunities in Australia’s mining sector.

Unveiling the guide in Perth, MCA chief executive officer Tania Constable said Prospect came at a crucial time.

“The mining industry remains a cornerstone of the Australian economy, contributing over $240 billion to GDP annually and directly employing around 285,000 people – while supporting an additional 1.1 million jobs indirectly,” she said.

“As demand for skilled professionals continues to rise, this guide aims to bridge the gap between education and employment.

“Packed with practical advice, real-world case studies, and clear pathways into diverse mining careers, Prospect helps the next generation of mining professionals explore opportunities in engineering, geology, environmental science, trades, and so much more.

“Whether through apprenticeships, university degrees, or on-the-job training, mining offers high-paying, highly skilled, and rewarding career options vital to Australia’s future.”

The MCA said the guide would be distributed to schools, government, and industry stakeholders nationwide, ensuring the next generation had access to the information required to make a career in mining.
