White Range Project

The White Range Project is a proposed copper development located about 40km south of Cloncurry in North-West Queensland.

The project comprises several copper-rich deposits, including Young Australian, Greenmount and Kuridala, along with smaller deposits such as Mount McCabe, Vulcan and Desolation and a number of surrounding exploration prospects.

White Range is considered an advanced copper project with a JORC-compliant resource of roughly 30Mt grading around 0.8 percent copper, along with minor gold and cobalt mineralisation.

The development concept involves mining oxide ore from several open pits and processing it through a heap-leach solvent extraction and electrowinning (SX-EW) plant, producing copper cathode for sale.

Feasibility studies have indicated the project could produce approximately 10,000–15,000t of copper cathode per year, with an estimated mine life of around five to ten years depending on resource expansion.

The project has changed ownership several times over the past two decades and is currently associated with Fetch Metals.

If developed, White Range would add to the copper supply chain centred around Cloncurry and Mount Isa, one of Australia’s most important base-metal mining regions.
