The Walford Creek Project is a large copper-cobalt development project located about 350km north-west of Mount Isa and about 70km west of Doomadgee.
The project lies within the mineral-rich Mount Isa Inlier, one of Australia’s most significant base-metal provinces. It is wholly owned by Aeon Metals, which has conducted extensive exploration and drilling across the deposit.
Walford Creek is a polymetallic deposit containing copper, cobalt, lead, zinc and silver. The mineralisation occurs in sediment-hosted sulphide systems associated with the Fish River Fault, a major geological structure that controls the distribution of ore along the deposit.
Drilling and resource studies have outlined a global mineral resource of more than 70Mt, with significant contained copper and cobalt metal.
Development concepts have examined mining and processing the ore to produce copper and cobalt-rich concentrates.
Although the project remains in the development and study stage, continued exploration has highlighted substantial potential to expand resources along strike within the broader Walford Creek mineral system.
