The Texas Mine is an historical silver and base-metal mining operation located about 7km east of the town of Texas in southern Queensland, near the border with New South Wales.

The mine sits within a mineralised district that also includes the nearby Silver Spur deposit, which helped drive early mining activity in the region.

Silver mineralisation in the district was first discovered in the late 1800s, sparking a small silver rush and leading to the development of several underground mines.

Early operations produced significant quantities of silver along with lead, zinc and copper, demonstrating the area’s polymetallic potential.

Modern mining at the Texas project occurred intermittently during the 2000s and early 2010s, when companies including Macmin Silver and Alcyone Resources operated a heap-leach processing operation.

However, falling silver prices and financial difficulties resulted in the mine being placed on care and maintenance several times before operations ceased in 2014.

The site was acquired by Silver Star Resources in 2024.
