Steam Engine is a gold development project located about 210km west of Townsville and about 30km west of the township of Greenvale.

The project is owned by Superior Resources and forms part of the company’s broader Greenvale Project, which hosts a number of gold and base-metal exploration prospects.

The deposit contains a JORC-compliant mineral resource of around 4.18 million tonnes grading about 1.5 g/t gold, equating to roughly 196,000 ounces of contained gold.

Exploration drilling has identified several mineralised lodes, including the Steam Engine and Eastern Ridge lodes, which host the majority of the known resource.

Gold mineralisation occurs within shear-hosted quartz-rich lodes developed in altered volcanic and sedimentary rocks.

The mineral system is interpreted as mesothermal or orogenic-style gold mineralisation, characterised by sulphide minerals such as pyrite and minor arsenopyrite within structurally controlled zones.

Development studies have examined the potential for a small open-pit mining operation, with ore either processed at a dedicated on-site plant or transported to an existing regional processing facility.

Ongoing drilling programs aim to expand the resource and test additional lode extensions along strike, highlighting the project’s potential to grow into a larger gold operation within the Greenvale district.
