The Springsure Creek project is a proposed coal mining development located about 47km south-east of Emerald within the Denison Trough on the western margin of the Bowen Basin.

The project was originally proposed by Springsure Creek Coal Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Bandanna Energy, and has been studied as a large greenfield underground coal mine targeting thermal coal resources.

Ownership of the asset later changed following the financial collapse of Bandanna Energy, and the project is generally considered shelved or inactive pending favourable market conditions and further investment.

The Springsure Creek project was acquired by Adamelia Resources in 2016. The ABN Status of Adamelia Resources is cancelled from 15 October 2024.

Development plans outlined a longwall underground mining operation designed to produce up to around 11 million tonnes of thermal coal per year. The project area covers part of the Permo-Triassic coal-bearing basin, where geological structures such as grabens and half-grabens host extensive coal seams.

Coal from the mine was expected to be processed and transported via regional rail infrastructure to export terminals at the Port of Gladstone, supplying international electricity generation markets.

The project was also planned to include supporting infrastructure such as underground access portals, coal handling facilities, transport corridors and worker accommodation.

Although the project progressed through environmental assessment and early development studies, it did not move into construction.
