Sandbox Project

The Sandbox Project is a proposed industrial minerals development located about 22km south-south-east of Innisfail in Far North Queensland.

The project was originally being acquired and advanced by Carbine Resources, which identified it as a potential near-term silica sand production opportunity.

The project covers a large land package of around 8,100ha, including exploration permits such as EPM 27338, although initial resource work has focused on a much smaller area of freehold land.

Drilling and resource estimation defined a JORC resource of approximately 5.7Mt grading about 95.8 per cent silica (SiO₂), with test work indicating the potential to upgrade the material to high-purity silica suitable for glass and potentially solar panel applications.

The development concept involved shallow open-cut mining of coastal sand deposits, with simple processing to produce high-grade silica sand for export via nearby Mourilyan Port, located roughly 27 km from the project site.

While the project has not advanced, Sandbox remains a prospective silica sand project with potential for future development given its location, resource quality and proximity to export infrastructure.
