The Moorlands Project is a proposed open-cut thermal coal development located about 25–40 km north-west of Clermont within the Bowen Basin. The project has been associated with proponents including Huaxin Energy (Australia), with more recent development partnerships involving companies such as TerraCom and Wintime Energy Group.

Moorlands is a greenfield coal project targeting export-grade thermal coal for use in electricity generation. Development plans outline a conventional open-cut mining operation, with coal extracted from shallow seams and processed before being transported to existing regional infrastructure, including rail networks linking to export ports.

The project is expected to produce about 1.7–1.9 million tonnes of run-of-mine coal per year over an estimated 30-year mine life, supported by a resource base of more than 140 million tonnes. Mining is planned to progress from multiple pit areas, with water management infrastructure and progressive rehabilitation forming part of the development concept.

Although it has progressed through environmental assessment and planning stages, the Moorlands project remains undeveloped, with future construction dependent on final approvals, market conditions and investment decisions.
