The Mackenzie Project is a proposed metallurgical coal development located near the town of Moranbah in Central Queensland.

The Stanmore Resources project targets high-quality coking coal used in steelmaking and lies strategically between the operating Curragh and Ensham coal mines, with access to the Blackwater rail system that connects Bowen Basin mines to export terminals at the Port of Gladstone.

Exploration drilling across the tenement has identified two principal coal seams — the Leo and Aquarius seams within the Burngrove Coal Formation. These seams extend over an estimated 27km strike length and occur at relatively shallow depths of 10 to 110m, making them suitable for potential open-cut mining methods.

Resource estimates outline about 143 million tonnes of coal, although the project has not yet progressed to full development.

While still considered an undeveloped asset and reportedly shelved in recent years, the Mackenzie Project remains part of Stanmore’s broader Bowen Basin portfolio and represents a potential future source of export metallurgical coal.
