The MaCauley Creek Project is a copper-silver-gold and polymetallic exploration project located about 100–15 km west of Townsville
The project is operated by Rokeby Resources and comprises two exploration permits covering roughly 359sq km of prospective ground.
The project area hosts historical copper-silver workings that were mined intermittently during the early 1900s, with mineralisation extending across a broad corridor about 3 km by 2–2.5 km. The mineral system occurs mainly in granitic rocks and intrusive bodies and includes copper, silver, lead and zinc sulphide mineralisation. Geological evidence such as porphyry dykes, hydrothermal alteration and geophysical anomalies suggests the presence of a larger copper-gold porphyry system at depth.
Exploration by Rokeby has included geological mapping, geochemical sampling and geophysical surveys to identify priority drill targets across several prospects, including Central, Wallaroo and Mount Brown. Recent rock-chip sampling has returned high-grade copper and silver values and identified additional prospects across the project area.
Although still in the exploration stage, MaCauley Creek is considered a promising polymetallic system with potential for large-scale copper-gold mineralisation as further drilling and exploration programs continue.
