The Gunnawarra Project is a nickel-cobalt-copper exploration project located about 15km south of Mount Garnet and about 130km south-south-west of Cairns. The project is held by Ark Mines and lies within the Greenvale Nickel Province, a region historically known for significant nickel and cobalt production.

The project area covers several exploration permits and is considered prospective for battery minerals including nickel, cobalt and scandium, as well as copper and other associated metals. Mineralisation occurs primarily within laterite deposits formed by weathering of ultramafic rocks, which can host near-surface nickel-cobalt resources suitable for open-pit extraction.

Exploration work at Gunnawarra has included geophysical surveys, geochemical sampling and reverse-circulation drilling programs aimed at defining mineral resources and identifying additional targets across the tenement area. A maiden JORC mineral resource has been reported for part of the project, indicating shallow mineralisation with potential for further expansion through additional drilling.

Although still in the exploration stage, the Gunnawarra Project is considered a promising battery-minerals prospect in North Queensland and could contribute to future supply of critical minerals used in electric vehicles and energy storage technologies.
