The proposed Corvus metallurgical coal project, 17km north of Emerald, would extract up to 10.5 million tonnes of raw coal annually for 25 years.

About 90 per cent of the ultra-low ash metallurgical coal from the underground mine would go to global steelmaking markets via the Port of Gladstone. 

The Corvus Resources-owned longwall project is expected to create 284 construction jobs and 500 operational roles.

Construction of key infrastructure, including a conveyor and train load-out facility, expected to begin in 2027. 

The Queensland Coordinator-General has declared it a coordinated project, paving the way for the environmental impact statement process.

Linc Energy previously sought mining leases at the same site more than a decade ago for its proposed Teresa coal project.
