Capcoal is a major metallurgical coal mining complex located in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, about 15km north of Middlemount in Central Queensland. Operated by Anglo American, the complex consists of the Capcoal open-cut and Aquila underground mines.

Coal from the complex is processed through the Capcoal coal handling and preparation plant before being transported by rail via the Goonyella rail network to export terminals at the Port of Dalrymple Bay near Mackay.

Capcoal has been a long-standing contributor to Queensland’s metallurgical coal industry and remains an important supplier of premium coking coal to global steel producers.
