The Briggs copper project is a large copper-molybdenum exploration and development project located in Central Queensland, about 50–60km inland from the port city of Gladstone. The project is being advanced by Alma Metals under an earn-in joint venture with Canterbury Resources and covers several exploration tenements across about 245sq km.

The deposit hosts a substantial porphyry-style copper system with a JORC-compliant inferred resource of around 415 million tonnes grading 0.25 per cent copper and 31ppm molybdenum, containing more than one million tonnes of copper metal. Mineralisation occurs within granodiorite intrusions and surrounding volcanic rocks, where networks of quartz veins contain copper minerals such as chalcopyrite and minor molybdenite.

Development studies have examined the potential for a large open-pit mining operation with ore processed through flotation to produce copper and molybdenum concentrates. The project benefits from proximity to infrastructure including highways, rail lines, power supply and the deep-water export facilities at Gladstone, which could support future mine development.
