Blackjack Mine

The Blackjack Mine is located about 6km south-west of Charters Towers in North Queensland, within one of Australia’s historically richest goldfields. The project forms part of the broader Charters Towers Gold Project and is currently operated by Native Mineral Resources.

The operation centres on the Blackjack processing plant, which has a capacity of about 340,000 tonnes of ore per year and processes gold-bearing material from nearby deposits and historical workings in the district. Gold mineralisation in the area occurs mainly in hydrothermal quartz reefs hosted within granitic rocks, typical of the Charters Towers goldfield.

Mining in the district dates back to the late 1800s, when the historic Blackjack and John Bull underground workings were mined intermittently between 1875 and 1889. Modern development has focused on refurbishing infrastructure, processing remnant ore and evaluating nearby deposits for future mining.

Today the Blackjack operation represents a renewed phase of gold production in the Charters Towers region, supported by existing infrastructure and the area’s long-established mining history.
