Ben Lomond Project

The Ben Lomond Project is centred on a historical uranium mining site located about 50km west of the town of Greenvale and around 100km north-west of Charters Towers. The deposit lies within the Georgetown–Greenvale mineral province, an area known for uranium and base-metal mineralisation.

Uranium was discovered at Ben Lomond in the 1950s, and mining commenced in the late 1970s. The operation was developed as an open-cut mine, with ore processed on site to produce uranium oxide concentrate, commonly known as yellowcake. Production continued until the early 1980s when the mine was placed on care and maintenance due to declining uranium prices and changing market conditions.

The deposit is hosted within metamorphic rocks where uranium occurs in mineralised zones associated with structural faults and alteration. Although mining ceased decades ago, the resource remains one of Queensland’s most significant known uranium deposits.

From time to time the project has been reassessed for potential redevelopment, depending on global uranium demand and regulatory conditions in Queensland.
