Consolidated Power Projects (CPP) has landed a key contract to build part of the Calvale to Calliope River Reinforcement Project.

CPP will construct 20km of the new transmission line between Powerlink’s Calliope River Substation, near Gladstone, to a proposed new Gladstone West substation south of Mount Larcom.

About 150 workers are expected to be employed to deliver this body of work, with about a thiPower;inkrd projected to come from Central Queensland communities.

The announcement comes after news last month that BMD Constructions had been awarded a contract to commence site preparation and access work for the project.

Powerlink chief executive Dr Seán Mc Goldrick said CPP was well-credentialed in delivering major transmission projects.

“Along with the new transmission line, CPP will also deliver upgrades to our Calliope River Substation and oversee the installation of a 500MVA transformer,” he said.

CPP general manager operations Queensland Andrew Timms said local relationships were key to the successful delivery of the project.

The contract announcement follows Powerlink’s commitment to a Community and Social Investment Program for Central Queensland.

Central Queensland businesses are invited to meet with Powerlink and delivery partners at three sessions to learn more about supply opportunities and tendering tips.

The sessions, delivered in partnership with State Development, will be held at:

• Biloela Bowls Club on Wednesday, September 9, from 3pm to 6pm
• Frenchville Sports Club on Thursday, September 10, from 3pm to 6pm
