Liontown shows its bite as more assays roll in
Drill core from Sunshine Metals’ Liontown acquisition is continuing to deliver high-grade assays, with latest results including intersections of 3.9m grading at 8.3 per cent copper and 3m at 7.6g/t gold.
The company has been working its way through testing for 25 diamond drill holes completed by previous owner Red River Resources at the project, which lies south-west of Charters Towers.
Highlights from assays for the latest two holes include:
– 3.9m at 23.2 per cent zinc equivalent, comprising 8.3 per cent copper and 0.2g/t gold Au (from 99m downhole, LTDD22074, Western Footwall lode). This included a 2m intercept at 33.0 per cent ZnEq, comprising 11.8 per cent copper and 0.3g/t gold (from 100m)/
– 3m at 13.4 per cent ZnEq, comprising 7.6g/t gold and 0.3 per cent copper (from 298m, LTDD22069A, New Queen extension). This included 2m at 19.2 per cent ZnEq, comprising 11.3g/t gold and 0.4 per cent copper (from 299m).
– 4m at 12.2 per cent ZnEq, comprising 1.5g/t gold, 1.7 per cent copper, 4.9 per cent zinc (from 145m, LTDD22074, Carrington lode).
Sunshine Metals managing director Dr Damien Keys said the latest intercepts extended the New Queen lode at Liontown 180m beyond the reported resource.
The results would likely add more metal to the existing high-grade resource when updated in late 2023, he said.
“All remaining diamond samples have been dispatched to the laboratory and the focus has now shifted to field validation of targets ahead of drilling in late August 2023,” Dr Keys said.
Sunshine Metals (formerly Sunshine Gold) bought Liontown in a $5.25 million deal in May for former Red River tenements adjacent to its Ravenswood West project and Lighthouse farm-in tenements.
The entire project has been dubbed Ravenswood Consolidated and covers 1760 sq km.
