Key Lotus Creek wind farm contract awarded
Engineering giant Monadelphous says work will commence immediately on the Lotus Creek wind farm north of Rockhampton after securing a construction contract for the $1 billion project.
Zenviron, the company’s renewable energy joint venture with ZEM Energy, has won the contract with government-owned CS Energy to deliver the 285MW project in partnership with Vestas.
Zenviron will deliver the balance-of-plant civil and electrical works along with the workers’ accommodation facility.
Vestas will supply and install 46 wind turbines, with a long-term service and maintenance agreement.

Zenviron said work would commence immediately, with completion expected by the end of 2027.
“Zenviron is delighted to be working together with Vestas and CS Energy to grow Australia’s renewable energy capacity,” Zenviron chief executive officer Carl Keating said.

“The award of this project demonstrates Zenviron’s leadership in the renewable energy market and expertise in delivering balance-of-plant works.”
CS Energy acquired the project from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners.
It is backed by $624.3 million from the Queensland Government’s Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Jobs Fund and $300 million from coal royalties, as announced in the 2023-24 Budget.
The project, to be built 20km west of St Lawrence, is expected to create up to 400 new jobs over the construction period and 10-15 ongoing operational roles to be based in the local area.
