Green light for Senex gas pipeline project

Senex Energy has won federal environmental approval to build its 57km Atlas to Reedy Creek Pipeline in the Surat Basin.
The buried pipeline is designed to carry natural gas produced from tenements south-west of Wandoan including Senex’s Project Atlas operations (pictured at top of page) and proposed Atlas Stage 3 project.
While welcoming the pipeline approval, the company said it was now eagerly awaiting the approval outcome for Atlas Stage 3 – a critical part of its expansion plans.
“We will continue to work collaboratively with the Federal Government to secure all necessary approvals so we can start work as soon as possible in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act and deliver reliable natural gas for decades to come,” a Senex spokeswoman said.

The new pipeline will deliver gas to the Reedy Creek to Wallumbilla Pipeline (RCWP), north of Yuleba.
Project documents supporting the EPBC Act application indicate construction will take about six months and will utilise an existing workforce accommodation camp.
The company’s existing operating coal seam gas project Project Atlas includes 113 CSG wells and associated facilities. The proposed Atlas Stage 3 project involves up to 151 coal seam gas wells.
