Diamond to lead skills group through construction crunch

Industry training fund Construction Skills Queensland is bringing Tara Diamond onboard to lead it into a record $83.5 million training and workforce development campaign.

The Australian Resources & Energy Employer Association (AREEA) deputy chief executive and company secretary (pictured below left) will begin her new role as CSQ chief executive officer in early November.

CSQ chair Sue-Ann Fresneda said Ms Diamond would bring extensive leadership experience and a strong commitment to supporting workforce development, industry productivity and skills investment across Queensland’s construction sector.

Ms Fresneda said the appointment came as Queensland’s construction industry experienced unprecedented demand, driven by population growth, major infrastructure projects and preparations for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“One of the most important responsibilities facing our new CEO will be leading the delivery of CSQ’s record $83.5 million Training Plan, the largest annual investment in workforce development in the organisation’s history,” she said.

“This investment will support thousands of workers, apprentices, trainees and employers across Queensland, helping to build the skilled workforce needed to meet the state’s future construction demands.”

Ms Diamond said she was excited to join the organisation and contribute to its important work.

“CSQ plays a vital role in supporting workforce capability and ensuring industry has access to the skills needed now and into the future,” she said.

“I look forward to working closely with the board, CSQ team, industry stakeholders, government and training providers to build on CSQ’s strong foundations and deliver lasting outcomes for Queensland’s construction sector.”

Ms Diamond succeeds Geoff Clare, who has led the organisation over the past three years.
