Cubico’s proposed Marmadua Energy Park about 23km east of Tara and Middle Creek Energy Hub about 10km east of Wandoan are advancing through the approvals process.

The Middle Creek project includes a proposed wind farm of up to 183 wind turbines generating up to 1317MW, a battery energy storage system (BESS) of 200MW/hr and a substation.

The Marmadua project includes a proposed wind farm of up to 110 wind turbines generating up to 792MW, a battery energy storage system (BESS) of 200MW/hr and a substation.

The projects’ referrals under the EPBC Act are now open to public comment (closing January 17 and 20 respectively).

Both are located within the Western Downs Renewable Energy Zone (REZ).

The Marmadua Energy Park is expected to connect to the grid via the existing Braemar to Bulli Creek 330kV transmission lines which already traverse the proposed project site.

Construction is anticipated to commence in 2027 and take about 24 months to complete.

The Middle Creek Energy Hub will connect to the National Energy Market (NEM) via the existing Columboola to Wandoan South 275kV transmission line located 22km south of the project.

Cubico is in negotiations with Powerlink to determine the alignment for an overhead transmission line.

It is targeting commencement of construction in 2027 and start of operations in 2030 for Middle Creek.
