Sunshine Metals says it has defined a compelling gold-copper target at the Coronation prospect within its Ravenswood Consolidated Project in North Queensland.

An induced polarisation (IP) geophysical survey at Coronation, 2.7km north of the old Highway-Reward mine, has returned the strongest chargeable response to date at the project.

“Importantly, the target has geological context, multiple overlapping layers of anomalism and shares many similarities with the nearby Highway-Reward mine,” Sunshine managing director Damien Keys said.

“Our upcoming drilling at Coronation will provide critical information for refining deeper massive sulphide targets while looking for shallow gold.”

Sunshine plans RC drilling to test the shallow gold target at the site and to vector toward the interpreted massive copper-gold sulphide source.

The program is expected to consist of nine holes for about 600m.

The company said soil sampling had delineated a 1km long anomaly (greater than 30ppb gold) on the mapped contact between the rhyolite and andesitic volcanics at the site.

The soil anomaly coincided with the strong geophysical anomaly, Sunshine Metals said.

Surface mapping has also delineated a barite vein network running along the mapped lithological contact. Barite vein rock chip samples to 6.70g/t gold have been collected.

Coronation, about 35km south of Charters Towers, is easily accessed and close to toll-treating gold mills.

The nearby Highway-Reward mine saw 3.9Mt of copper-gold ore mined from open pit and underground sources.
