Blair Athol heading into FY26 with ‘strong momentum’

TerraCom says it is entering the new financial year with strong momentum and operational discipline after meeting its revised coal sales guidance for FY25 at the Blair Athol mine.

TerraCom had revised that figure down from 1.6Mt to 1.52Mt in the past month. This came on the tail of it revising the forecast down from 1.8Mt in April after the Clermont region where the mine is based was hit with 1.5 times the 10-year rainfall average for the March quarter.

The company confirmed this week that the revised target had been met in full after a shipment of about 92kt was dispatched in late June.

TerraCom managing director Danny McCarthy.

TerraCom said the Blair Athol site maintained solid operational performance throughout last month. It saw 238kt run of mine (ROM) coal mined and 223kt saleable coal produced.

“We committed to revised guidance and a disciplined finish to FY25, and that is exactly what we have delivered,” managing director Danny McCarthy said.

“Blair Athol finished the year strong and we enter FY26 with purpose and control. I am proud of the team’s focus and consistency.”

TerraCom said the first shipment of the new financial year was scheduled for dispatch within the first two weeks of July.

The company’s FY26 plan for Blair Athol was described as emphasising value over volume, with a mine plan that was responsive to market conditions, underpinned by a lean cost structure.

Further detail on the company’s FY26 outlook will be provided in the upcoming quarterly report.
