Bad weather has interrupted a good run for one of the oldest coal mines in the Queensland inventory.

Owner Terracom sold two shipments from Blair Athol, located near Clermont in the northern Bowen Basin, for $213/tonne in December.

Bad weather hampers performance

A third shipment of 79,000 tonnes scheduled for December sailed this week (Wednesday 5 Jan) following delays caused by bad weather.

Coal sales for the December 2021 Quarter totalled 502,000 tonnes. This was 4 per cent higher than the forecast revenue of A$210 per tonne for the period.

If the planned third shipment for the month of December departed as scheduled, the Company would have recorded total coal sales of 581,000t for the December 2021 Quarter said Terracom Managing Director Danny McCarthy.

This which would have represented an annualised coal sales run rate for the six months ended 31 December 2021,of 2.3 million tonnes per annum, Mr McCarthy said.

Blair Athol remains on track for coal sales in the 2022 Financial Year of approximately 2.3 million tonnes, he said.
