Police have arrested a Cairns woman and fined two other people as activists hit the Carmichael development for the second time in three days.

Bravus Mining and Resources (formerly known as Adani Mining) said works had continued unaffected on the Carmichael mine and rail project despite a group of about 15 anti-coal protesters trying to block one of the roads leading to site.

“Police attended and the protest was finished by 9am (April 9) with the road cleared for movement,” a spokeswoman said.

The Queensland Police Service said a 63-year-old Kewarra Beach woman had been charged with trespass and contravening a direction or requirement.

She is due to appear in the Bowen Magistrates Court next month.

A 40-year-old woman and 54-year-old man were each fined $53 for disobeying a move-on direction.

More than 2600 workers have been engaged on the Carmichael thermal coal project which is on track to produce first coal later this year.

The Carmichael mine is located in the North Galilee Basin, about 160km north-west of Clermont, and will produce about 10 million tonnes of coal per annum.

A 200km narrow-gauge rail line s being built to connect the Carmichael mine to existing rail infrastructure to allow export via Abbot Point.
