ActivEX builds its Aramac rare earths asset base

ActivEX has doubled its footprint at the Aramac rare earth elements and base metal project to 633sq km with the granting of a second exploration permit there.
Exploration manager Mark Derriman described it as an exciting development for ActivEX, with the acquisition of new ground meaning the exploration target length for REE and base metal exploration was now 55km.
This was defined by a distinctive 2-3m thick scarp feature comprising kaolinitic fine-grained sediment and sands, he said.
“The TREO (total rare earth oxide) analysis of 777ppm with EPM 28644 from only a handful of samples is very encouraging,” he said.
“The adjacent outcropping limonite stained sediments with cobalt to 1070ppm and zinc to 706ppm are of interest in that they may be the surface expression of sulphide mineralisation at depth.
“Historical exploration has only been a handful of shallow aircore drillholes targeting mineral sands within EPM 28645 with no exploration for REE or base metal mineralisation.”

The company plans a desktop study this financial year involving a review of all historical exploration and geological/regolith studies of satellite imagery to define the target stratigraphy.
It also plans field-based geological traverses across the contact of the Wallumbilla Formation REE target at the site and the Ronlow Beds base metal target, including the collection of pXRF readings.
Selected rock samples will be submitted to ALS for a full suite of geochemical analyses.
After work to define targets, ActivEX plans a broad-spaced aircore drilling program.
